Biography

Howard B. Clarke, MRIA, FRHistS, formerly of the School of History (now the School of History and Archives, University College Dublin. He continues to work on the history of medieval Dublin, on the Irish Historic Towns Atlas, on Evesham Abbey and its cartularies, and on the Bayeux Tapestry and Domesday Book. His most recent publications are The Vikings in Ireland and Beyond, edited with Ruth Johnson, and Lords and towns in medieval Europe, edited with Anngret Simms. His doctoral thesis was focused on aspects of the governance of England prior to the accession of John in 1199.
